Well Chaz is pretty much gone for the rest of the summer. He left today to be a councilor at camp Woodward in Pennsylvania for 3weeks and then he may or may not come home for a week and then he leaves for Florida for an internship at The Sandpearl in Clearwater Beach Florida. Therefore I'M LONELY! Thus, this felling of loneliness has reminded me of one of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE photographers, who surprisingly enough was discovered by the youngest of my two older brothers who has been buying me his books and what not. I really love him and I hope you will enjoy his work as much as I do. His name is Harry Callahan. I love everything he does from portrait to landscape. I intensely admire his use of negative space and how sometimes his focal point is very small and almost lost in the vast nothingness around it. I myself have played with this, where I've drawn and image and leave the entire page around it blank and desolate. I feel it sort of gives the piece a sense of overwhelming loneliness and suffocation which could be created by many things such as social norms and conformity. I also love his repetition of elements which creates a pattern like feel, which you should pretty well know I'M OBSESSED with. All and all I love his work and I sincerely hope that it does give you JAZZ HANDS!
This is one of his more famous pieces it appears on the cover of one of the books that I have.
